Environmental Policy

Protection of the environment in which we live and operate is part of AK – IT Solution’s values and principles and we consider it to be sound business practice. Care for the environment is one of our key responsibilities and an important part of the way in which we do business.   As part of this policy statement AK - IT Solutions commit our company to: Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice; Protecting the environment by striving to prevent and minimise our contribution to pollution of land, air, and water; Seeking to keep wastage to a minimum and maximise the efficient use of materials and resources; Managing and disposing of all waste in a responsible manner; Providing training for our staff so that we all work in accordance with this policy and within an environmentally aware culture; Regularly communicating our environmental performance to our employees and other significant stakeholders; Developing our management processes to ensure that environmental factors are considered during planning and implementation Monitoring and continuously improving our environmental performance.

The policy statement will be regularly reviewed and update as necessary. The management team endorses these policy statements and is fully committed to their implementation.

Recycling for Customers - The WEEE directive

AK – IT Solutions have a strong focus on the environment both in our relation to our responsibilities as a supplier and in the way, we operate as a business. As a supplier of IT equipment, we are aware of the amount of landfill that is taken up by used electronic equipment. AK – IT Solutions is therefore keen to encourage all our clients to recycle their equipment in line with the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).

To ensure compliance with the WEEE Directive, AK IT partners with RDC, the UK leading IT reuse and recycling company. RDC currently report 100% recovery of IT WEEE with nothing going to landfill. RDC hold a hazardous waste license to treat WEEE and can produce mass balance reports indicating materials recovered.

Working in close partnership with leading recycling and waste management companies, RDC provides an efficient and cost effective means to remove and dispose of all redundant IT & Telecoms equipment. These aims are backed with the knowledge that increasingly stringent data and environmental obligations set out within UK/EU legislation are actively managed and demonstrably met.

AK – IT Solutions provide an on-line toner and ink cartridge recycling service through www.tonerrecycling.com.

Logging onto this site enables our customers to arrange collection of used toner and ink cartridges. We can even arrange regular collections and provide you with recycling boxes. We do charge a collection fee of £3.00 (ex VAT) per cartridge to cover our own costs. To find out more or to arrange a collection please see www.tonerrecycling.com.
